The Aquatimer collection by IWC is celebrating its 30th birthday with the launch of a new model that the brand decided to clothe in an all-black livery. To achieve this, it devoted five years of R&D to developing a new material more resistant than a DLC-treated metal, the solution generally used in the watch industry for black cases. Ceratanium®, a titanium alloy featuring a ceramic surface, boasts the combined advantages of the two materials in terms of lightness, sturdiness as well as resistance to scratching and corrosion.
The functions of the Aquatimer Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month Edition “50 Years Aquatimer” are a fine match for its high-tech case. The flyback chronograph is combined with a digital perpetual calendar indicating the date and month with large numerals placed on either side of the hours and minutes counter. The disks are visible through the honeycomb grid that gives the dial a very technical look. The internal and external rotating bezels are a reminder that this imposing matt black 49mm timepiece belongs to the diver’s watch family

50-piece limited edition
I mentioned this edition had a surprisingly light premium over the non-limited model. Special edition watches often cost significantly more than their standard siblings, many times with no other motive than that it’s labeled a special edition and maybe has a different dial color – and also for some supposed “exclusivity.” This can be quite frustrating for watch collectors. This makes it more appealing for the collector who appreciates the Ingenieur line but needs something different and less common compared to the normal offerings – and at a year where we’ve seen “limited edition” runs of 2,012 or 6,000 pieces, 250 pieces makes it feel much more “rare” indeed. The Iwc Watches With Price Replica Ingenieur Chronograph Sport Edition “50th Anniversary Of Mercedes-AMG” is available on a black calfskin strap, at retailers and online for $11,800. Picture this: in 2016, you felt inclined to buy one of these strictly limited-edition-only IWC Ingenieur watches, thinking it’s a one-time chance to find a new-old take on the Ingenieur… Well, worry not if you haven’t, since IWC today is launching basically the same watch with a few basic cosmetic tweaks along with three entirely new models – a time-only, two chronograph models, and a chronograph perpetual calendar – in what’s presently a brand new IWC Ingenieur collection. As a beginner as well as the entry-level model, we’ve got exactly the IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 as seen previously, with references IW357001, IW357002, and IW357003 beginning at only under $5,000 and moving up from there as you upgrade for a steel bracelet or some good 18k red gold case. Inspired by the IWC Ingenieur benchmark 666, the very initial Ingenieur that dates back to 1955, the silver dial variation on black leather seems closest to its predecessor.
